June and July were designed as an experiment in operational continuity, and I want to be precise about what that means, because the phrase can sound abstract until you have lived inside it. The question was whether the content, the governance frameworks, and the business could continue to operate during a period when I was not producing new recorded material in real time — when, for medical reasons, my body could not reliably be the engine the whole enterprise ran on. I have sickle cell disease. I am undergoing gene therapy. The premise of the experiment was not theoretical for me. It was the difference between an enterprise that survives my treatment and one that pauses every time my body does.
